OK, so I really need to get back to posting more often.  This year has been a whirlwind of stuff, and NONE of it has involved racing so far!  Even though I did the Palos Half Marathon, I really didn’t “race” it.  I just ran it.  It was fun.  Weather was great.  Excellent turnout from Team Tri Smart.  Another successful event in the books.

So what’s going on?  Lots!  My business, Tri Smart Coaching, has been going very well this year.  It’s funny – each time you lose a client, you pick up 2-3 more.  It’s been keeping me pretty busy and I love it.  My clients are all very different and I really like working with each of them!  On to Tri Smart Masters – our local adult swim team I started 2 years ago.  Also going well – we get better all the time.  It’s really great when we get new people – especially those that are intimidated to walk out on that pool deck for the first time.  Once they try it, they are hooked.  So if you’ve ever wanted to try a masters team – just do it.  The hardest part is getting yourself there that first day.  Just like everyone else, I was extremely intimidated the first day I walked on the deck of a masters swim team.

But most of my time has been spend on Team Tri Smart.  OK, this is annoying.  Trying to upload a photo.  Can’t just upload it from the computer any more.  Forget it, already wasted too much time trying.  The tri club is booming.  Lots and lots of people joining, coming out, getting active and being social.  We already had a solid group, but we’ve recently picked up a lot of great, energetic, social people who LOVE to participate!  And that’s what we’re all about.  This year we’ve already done the following:

  • Acquired new sponsors
  • Retained all sponsors we wanted retained
  • Held a local open water swim workout
  • Set up regular track runs
  • Got involved with some cross fit style workouts (not to mention we get a spectacular deal!)
  • Have new uniforms on the way
  • Had an informative kickoff meeting
  • Wednesday night rides are back
  • Regular open water swims downtown are scheduled
  • Weekend runs and rides
  • Social outings
  • Huge turnout at the Palos Half and Leon’s

And it’s only getting better!  We’ve got some great leadership who have stepped into new roles recently.  This means only good stuff for the club.  But just like anything else, you only get out of it what you put into it.  Don’t show up to any events, well, then you wonder why you bothered joining.  We’re constantly doing something – it’s up to you to take advantage of it!

It’s been a busy and productive 2012 so far.  Maybe now it’s time to change gears a little bit and get to some racing.  It’s almost July!  And there’s a pretty big race for me coming up in October.  Time to dust off the tri bike!
